Composite Doors

While wood is a traditional door material and uPVC a popular choice over recent decades, one of the newest members to the door style club is the composite door. But what are they and why might they suit your home?

Composite doors, as the name suggests, are made from a number of different materials. This normally starts with a solid timber core and has a thermos plastic skin on it. Steel reinforcement is often used to add strength to the door and then the multi point locking systems are added.

The result is a door that is one of the most security available as well as being resistant to the weather and having a higher thermal resistance than wood doors – this makes them more energy efficient than other styles of door.

Composite doors look great too, often appearing as wood without the natural deterioration that wood doors have. These doors don’t require repainting or much maintenance above a simple wipe clean. They don’t discolour with time due to the UV rays from the sun either.

Composite doors are proving popular with new build properties due to all of these factors. Here at The Door Factory, we have a number of different styles available so when the time comes to change your door, we can offer our advice to see if these will be right for you.
